Columbus Day

If I hadn’t been listening to the radio this morning, I’d have gone through the day ignorant of this special day. But, is it really a special day. What I know is it’s a big day for stores and their Columbus Day sale specials. All governmental workers get the day off. Some businesses allow their staff to have the day off.

But do people really grasp the significance of why they are off work?

Columbus discovered America, of course, he and his crew brought along a few strains of diseases to share with the Natives. Thanks Chris.

I prefer not to celebrate this holiday so it’s life as usual: Meditate, take care of Michael and the cats, time of for my afternoon nap and a little housework done. Then I’m done for the day. Time to relax with Michael which is watch some telly and do my reading of the books listed below.

Oh well, today’s the day, I hate it when they move actual holidays around to suit the working folks. I like my holidays for when they were originally set for and that’s all I’m going to say about it.
