Two glorious days of sunshine and warm breezes and this morning I awake to gray skies and cool temperatures.

Lucky for me I am having a hot flash and I do not feel the coolness. Those hot flashes do have their usefulness.

I didn’t sleep well last night with only a few hours sleep between 4 and 7 a.m. Once 7 a.m. came around I knew I wasn’t going back to sleep. I sometimes think this happens when I have a morning appointment.

Today, I am getting a manicure. I was ready for a color change. The sparkle polish had turned yellowish as my manicurist had said it would. I didn’t polish over the yellowed polish since it still looked good. I even kept some of the nail length instead of filing them down short like I had been doing. The manicurist said that I am becoming used to the nails and the length. The first time I didn’t file down the new length, I was frazzled by how the nails felt by the end of the two weeks.

Other than that it is an easy breezy day and one spent with my husband of two weeks.

Another day of waking to sunshine – I do live in paradise.

A pleasant surprise for me – Michael was up and preparing breakfast for me. On the menu this day is a blend of apple and bananas chopped. I had two waffles, fried egg to perfection and fried potatoes with grated cheese over the egg and potatoes. What a nice way to get the day going.

Of the kitties, they are not pleased with the change in the routine. Bailey even brought out the brush to show me what was being missed. We also discovered this morning that Bailey has determined he, too, likes bananas since his older brother Max eats them. What a copy cat!

Today is my day to get my tootsies pampered, massaged, nails trimmed and painted. The color for this two week period is candy apple red. Whoo hoo.

The rest of the day was spent relaxing in the sunshine.

I woke up to sunshine this morning. This is a good thing.

This morning’s activities is to go to Paso Robles to the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to change the last name on my driver’s license.

One of the best things to happen to me was last week Michael and I went into AA
A to take care of some business. In our discussion I brought up about my needing a new driver’s license and the person taking care of my business advised me to go on-line and make an appointment. Having an appointment would speed up the time I would have to be in the office.

I did go on-line and got an appointment. I was set to go in Monday but the earliest available was this morning at 10:45 a.m. Not that I couldn’t have gone on Monday but who knows how long I would have to wait to see a clerk.

I arrived early, checked in and in less than 10 minutes I was heading out the door with my interim driver’s license. The original one would arrive within two weeks.

Michael and I talked about his going with me due to the length of the drive and it was out of my comfort zone. However, with the sunshine and the help of one of my little orange pills I handled the drive just fine. Traffic was light on the highway and in Paso Robles, it was a left turn and a couple of right turns and I was in the parking lot.

On the return trip, I stopped off at Starbuck’s for a mocha frappuccino. I have been hankering for a Starbuck’s for a few weeks now and I felt that today was a good day to indulge. I’m glad it wasn’t last night since all the Starbuck’s were closed at 5:30 p.m. for training purposes. I hope that none of you were caught in this phase and had to go without your Starbuck’s.

As of last Monday, all my thank you cards are out. I find people’s responses to receiving thank you notes quite amazing. These folks are pleased to have a physical note and want to thank me for sending it. Of course, this practice could date me or show family influences because even as a child we had to send a thank you note when we received a gift and it needed to be sent out in a timely fashion.

Now all that is left of wedding stuff is to take care of name changing documents and to see an attorney for wills and such.

Life Moves Along

Right after the wedding and the following days, Michael and I were exhausted. We took lots of naps and watched television. Our family and friends gave us time to decompress which we appreciated.

It’s hard to believe that 11 days have passed since our wedding day. It felt like it was taking forever to get to our wedding and now time is speeding ahead like a freight train on steroids.

Michael and I are still amazed at how sometimes it doesn’t feel like anything has changed. Then on other days we know definitely that it’s different between us. Either way, we like it and we like being married.

Our certified marriage license came last Friday. On that day I took a chance and went to the Social Security office to fill out forms for a new social security number with my new last name.

Coming home from that jaunt, I went on-line and made an appointment with the DMV to get a new driver’s license. It seems that with these two pieces of identification I get everything else done like bank accounts, new passport, insurance and vehicle registration.

I can tell that the fur children don’t notice any difference. They are rambunctious as usual. Plus, today is Max’s second birthday. His big treat was to share a banana with me; although that means he gets his usual three bites.

One last thing, I will be posting photos of the wedding as soon as I get them. Even I haven’t seen any photos yet.

Good night one and all.

Where to Begin

To pick up where I last wrote, I will fill you in on some of the details and or impressions of Michael’s and my BIG ADVENTURE.

Thursday – February 14: A Day of Beauty

– Today included packing for tonight and tomorrow. (I found I over-packed and even forgot things)

– Pedicure

– Manicure

– Meet up with Lady C for a girls’ night out. Quite a tame night as we only went to dinner and back to the hotel.

– Back the hotel, we cleaned up and into bed to each watch our favorite television show. We were still full from dinner so we did not get into our old time favorite of smoked oysters with crackers or the pie slices we had ordered with dinner.

– I don’t believe I slept very well since I was worried about snoring and being in a different bed.

Thus ends Thursday.

Friday – February 15: Wedding Day!

– The wonder of this day is 15 years ago on this date, Michael and I met for the first time and we have been together for 15 years.

– Lady C woke up around 4 a.m. and I became aware around 5 or 5:30 a.m. We chatted for awhile and then Lady C got up to open the drapes for us to watch the sunrise. Did I tell you she got a room with an ocean view?

– I felt like I could sleep more (probably not) as reality hit that this was truly my wedding day. Lady C suggested that we take a walk around the hotel grounds to get some fresh air, sunshine and physically activity. I thought I wanted to sleep but I knew the walk would do me good in keeping me calm.

– Following the walk, we stopped into the hotel’s continental breakfast and I felt I had a balanced meal that would cover me until the reception. Plus, we still had pie to eat while we were getting ready.

– Now is the time for the early preparation of dressing. We are taking our shower here, fixing our hair and applying our make up. This is where I find out my organization of my bags were not as organized at I thought. I couldn’t find anything. I found out I forgot my cotton pads for removing and applying make up and my razor. Luckily Lady C has what I needed. We check over the room as we pack and prepare for departure to the home of my friend Lady G.

– Off we go to Lady G’s. I have immense butterflies doing the backstroke in my tummy. I’m very glad I had eaten.

– Lady C calls ahead to make sure the guys are out of the way so I can get from the truck to Lady G’s bedroom where Lady C and I will finish our dressing.

– Before I make it to Lady G’s room, the minister (his name is Angel if you can believe that) met us at the truck to talk about what is going to happen during the ceremony. Once said, I can only hope I remember it all.

– In the safety of Lady G’s room, let the dressing begin. Thank heavens for Lady C. I don’t believe I could have gotten myself into the clothes I needed to wear. Plus, Lady C helped with me with my hair and bangs. My hairstyle was with my waist-length hair down and in waves which I created by braiding my hair for the last two days and then using hairspray to give stability to the waves.

– I wore a white Renaissance long-sleeved dress with an empire waist and Lady C was wearing a dark green dress in the same style of my dress but with short sleeves.

-Our flowers were three stalks of white calla lilies. The boys had miniature calla lilies for boutonnières and corsages of miniature white roses for Lady M and Lady G.

– Five minutes out the music began and then it was Lady C’s turn to head down the stairs and to be escorted to the front by Michael’s best man, Stoney.

– Now it’s my turn, big butterflies doing high dives, and I walk down the stairs for my brother, KC Bob, to escort me to Michael. The fun and nice part was the minister had discussed with Bob and then me, that Bob would be the person who was giving me away. Of course, Bob was kidded about giving away his daughter and he had to set them straight that it was his sister and not a daughter.

– Both Bob and Michael were taken with my vision of loveliness.

– I was taken at how nicely Bob was dressed (and that’s a whole story in its self) and that man of mine – whew doggies – he was a sight and my heart was taken away. Michael was dressed in black except his red bandana (his hair down and naturally wavy) and his cowboy boots black with red. Well, all my guys were dressed to perfection as far as I was concerned.

– From here on out it is kind of a blur. I forgot about giving my bouquet to Lady C until she bumped my arm to give them to her; since I was to be holding hands with Michael. Time melted away as did all in attendance and it was just me, Michael and the minister.
I don’t remember much of what the minister said other than the parts I needed to repeat. Michael had a time with keeping his voice steady and I had to purse my lips to keep me from letting the waterworks flow. I believe I had only one tear get away.

– Next we know, we are pronounced husband and wife and let the kissing begin!

– The reception immediately followed. We had several different party platters of fruit, veggies, chicken wings, meat wraps and potato and macaroni salads. It was a BYOB reception but we did supply champagne for the toast and sodas, water and sparkling apple cider for those who wished not to imbibe.

– The wedding cake was stupendous. This was a gift to us from Lady M. Her niece bakes cakes professionally. We told Lady M what we liked in a cake and how we would like it decorated if possible. We were most pleased with the cake. The cake was a one layer cake, chocolate and white cake with a raspberry filling between. The cake had chocolate frosting with flames around the sides of the cake and a chain at the base for decoration. The top was a dark frosting looking like an asphalt road and then it went into a golden yellow road with calla lilies along each side of the road. The center piece was a knick knack we purchased in Sturgis when we were there in 2000. It is of two pigs, male with leathers and a cap on and the female in leathers and a pink bandana and both are on motorcycles. This was at the center of leaving the dark asphalt and entering the gold highway. Not only was the cake good to look at, it was good to eat. We didn’t even save any for freezing for our first anniversary.

– Around 2 p.m. everyone began hitting the road. We assisted Lady G in restoring order to her house. Bob then chauffeured me and Michael home. On cue, Bob headed for his lodgings and Michael and I settled down to admire our rings and reflect on the wonderful day we had and of the family and friends we had in attendance at the wedding.

I shall stop for now and write more tomorrow.

A Week Gone By

I cannot believe a week has gone by since Michael and I tied the knot. I shall write more in detail tomorrow. Tonight I am too tired.

For those of you who have left me comments, I shall be responding this coming week.

It’s Not Long Now

I’m down to a day and a half away. I’m excited and anxious but I know everything is going to be wonderful.

Michael and I did some housecleaning. Then we worked on our personal wedding attire. Things are coming along well in that arena.

I’ve talked to Lady C and we have confirmed tomorrow night’s festivities.

The boys are out on the town as I write.

The cats are acting a bit strangely. Yes, I do believe as Bex suggested that the cats are picking up on the energy level and noticing all the stuff we are doing at different times.

I won’t be near a computer tomorrow night so there won’t be an entry. I’ll probably be checking in on Saturday.

Everyone have a wonderful two days.
